Sustaining Conscious Feminine Connection

(Read Olivia Linn's Application Poem Here)

I think my success in facilitating so far really speaks to the success of an inter-generational model of mentoring. I've been so supported for so many years...
that I really feel ready to do this. (Or, sometimes I have doubts, but always have someone to call or reach out to." Teaching these classes has been so powerful.
Really, genuinely life-changing, and I'm so grateful for the model you've put in place and for the abundance of support I have even now."

Why

liminal 1884, a rare word, from L. limen "threshold."

My dear sisters across the generations and around the country,

I don't need to tell you we are in liminal time, all of us on the planet. It's by now a cliché, but no less powerful an image that Chinese pictographs which form the word crisis are two: risk and opportunity.

What is at risk during the excitement and the terror of threshold moments is what is always at risk---only more so: the expression of the conscious-of-itself feminine ( as opposed to the unconscious defined by what the culture says it is feminine).

A number of stories have intersected to prompt me to create a container for sustaining the connection to the conscious feminine which many of us have held because of our participation in Women Writing for (a) Change.

One story I must tell is that in the late summer of 2011, Chelsey Shannon, Avery Smith and Meg Stentz approached me to ask me to think / feel with them about how they might continue to develop their vocations as conscious feminine teachers of girls and women.

We met, wrote and talked together, and the name SCFC emerged from our readback lines. I said I would create a container to mentor these busy, gifted college-aged women who have been held in the WWf(a)C communities since they were girls. We discussed a distance learning model using skype and a community blog, to be followed by face-to-face gathering during their Christmas break.

However, I have been too swamped with commitments to clear space for doing more than asking the ED at WWf(a)C Cincinnati, Emilie Davis, to hold December 28-30, as dates I would like to use the first floor space for a workshop-retreat.

Other Stories

SCFC is not the same as the former Feminist Leadership Academy (FLA) and Young Feminist Leadership Academy (YFLA) programs, and does not certify or license participants to use the Women Writing for (a) Change trademark. Women Writing for (a) Change has suspended those programs while leaders are wisely discerning priorities for the second generation of organizational life.
